[ it felt like bad luck the moment his cellphone rang and woke him up after four hours of sleep. it felt like even worse luck when said person on the other line told nathan that he would be saying hello to their fifth and final member to the 'team'-- alone, which was apparently due to personal reasons from his other three co-workers. this did not deter nathan from furiously texting aaron in anger, only to get a short can't come as a reply. he didn't even bother texting hana, as she still had difficulties texting with an english-language phone, but he still called her and got her voicemail message, which only made him seethe even further.

the anger eventually subsided when coffee was deposited into his hands, drinking his life force happily (or as happy as nathan could get) while turning the corner from starbucks to sit on one of the many chairs littering the front of the shop. once he settled in and tossed his bag onto the table, nathan finally felt like all was right in the world, completely forgetting his original objective for the day. his coffee was his second love, after all, and it deserved his complete and undivided attention. ]

[ has said strawberry milk in the bag-o-food, but he doesn't pull it out just yet. instead he places his items on the table before sitting in the seat opposite of caleb, opening the bag to rummage around in it. when he finds the handful of straws someone must've just thrown in there, he finally begins to pop open each top to the icy, cold slushy-like drinks. stabs them all with a straw, releases them from their cardboard dungeon, then nudges them closer to caleb.

looks up at him, an somewhat expectant look on his face. ]

[ looks at all the drinks, looks up at nathan, looks at the drinks & looks up at nathan once again. ]

[ was taking out the food as caleb processed his silent request, only looking up once he hears his cry. ]

Well, no, you don't have to eat it all. [ points to one that has caramel swirls in it. ] Try that, it's really good.

[ looks at the drink for a moment & then up at nathan for the final time, his expression a little flushed & eyes glistening with... something akin to tears. ]

[ averts his eyes elsewhere after taking one of the drinks, again feeling an awkward/embarrassed mix. ]

[ hesitates slightly before he picks up the drink pointed out to him, taking a small, careful sip of the drink. blinks afterward, a little surprised at the taste & looks up with a pleased nod. ]

[ leans back in his seat and sips at his own, feeling mildly accomplished. ]

Toldja so. [ scoots the food over to caleb's side of the table as well. ] Eat those, too.

[ peers at the selection of the food passed over to him, in the end settling with a croissant. also reaches for the strawberry milk he requested while munching rather happily on the food. swallows quickly to speak when a thought comes to him, shuffling around his pockets again. ]

Five dollars good?

Huh? [ stops swirling the straw in his drink, giving caleb this look after realizing what he's trying to do. ] Ugh, no, don't give me any money. That'd be like kicking a puppy and taking its treat away.

. . . ? Erm. Ja, taking food from dog is bad.

[ stops rummaging though, peering at nathan in curiosity over the first bit -- the bit he understood. ]

[ rests the drink on his knee, stroking his chin a little while observing caleb for the moment in silence. frowns, narrowing his eyes a tad. ]

Where are you staying at.

[ props his elbows on the table as he chews at the straw of his milk. ]

The First give me room for seven days.

... you're staying with The First? [ pauses, murmuring before taking a drink: ] Wow, good luck with that.
