[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ looks surprised at him after he's finished, blinking a few times. picks one of the items up, inspecting it. ]

How many times have you made pizza?

Not pizza. Bread! Bread need dough?

Oh. [ pauses. thinks about it. ] That makes sense.

So that means you can handle this part all by yourself, right?

Ja! I can make dough!

Cool. I'll let you get to work, then.

[ wanders over to the empty counter space and with some difficulty he sits atop it, swinging his legs around as he watches caleb in silence. ]

[ beams at the attention & starts getting to work. pauses several times through the process, looking a little glazed as he pokes & prods at a memory he's been using as reference for years. the batter comes together slowly, one ingredient at a time. hands are gentle as he molds into something more solid.

only looks up at nathan after a long moment of concentration, cheeks flushed with pride & flour all over his face & hands. ]

Done! [ glances down at his work briefly. ] Erm. Almost.

[ peers down at his work when he's finished, giving him an encouraging smile. reaches over to pet the top of caleb's head as best as he can. ]

Good job. It looks really good.

Taste okay! Hope taste okay. . .

[ then straightens to extend & open both arms toward nathan to catch him if he wants to slide off the counter. keeps yammering while doing this: ] What is next step?

[ blinks a little at him, quietly and slowly shuffling to the edge of the counter. reaches out to hold onto his forearms for support, slipping into his hold as to not fall within the motion. also talks throughout this: ]

Um... think we just need to put the sauce and toppings on it. I think.

[ twitches a bit & brings nathan into a complete hug when he slides off, not wanting to have a repeat performance of just a few moments ago. ]

Erm. . . I do not know how make sauce.

[ gives an "oof" at the gentle impact, having not expected the hug. doesn't speak for a moment, too busy placing his arms awkwardly around caleb's neck for support. flushes and buries his face into caleb's hair as he murmurs in reply. ]

We just... pour some tomato sauce in there. Maybe.

[ adjusts for nathan's movement automatically, hugging him a bit closer. looks up at him awkwardly. ]

Tomate? Is enough?

[ shifts a bit so that his face isn't as close to caleb's, his heart beating a bit faster. ]

D-dunno...

[ blinks a few times when the sound of nathan's heartbeat bombards his senses. adjusts again, backpedaling carefully so that he can lean against something sturdier than empty air. then presses one of his ears against nathan's chest, half on instinct, lulled into calmness by the way that sound silences everything else that he hears & sees. ]

[ blinks down at him in surprise when the movement is made, feeling slightly off-kilter by their current position. eventually begins to relax into caleb's hold, though his expression turns into something akin to worry after a few moments pass by. slowly releases one of his hands to stroke his hair gently, as if he is both reassuring caleb yet asking if everything is alright. ]

[ snaps out of his lull when he feels that touch, twitching when everything comes flooding back. rides that out with a perfection borne of years worth of practice. closes his map-eye so that he can concentrate on looking at nathan, his gaze honest & fond. ]

I like heartbeat. Your heartbeat.

[ looks at caleb despite feeling the need to look away in his shyness, holding onto him a bit tighter as he murmurs quietly: ]

But... it's not normal.

Ja, not normal. But it is Nathan. And it make me calm when listen to Nathan.

...

[ without realizing what he's doing he shifts once more, gaze gentle as he locks his eyes onto caleb's. observes him for a moment in silence before he closes those eyes and cranes his neck a bit, planting a soft yet firm kiss upon caleb's lips. ]

[ it takes him a moment to pull back, a slow, almost painful process, looking at him again as if he's in a daze... ]

...

. . . !!!

[ SHRIEKS and pushes/wiggles violently out of caleb's hold, dropping onto the floor with a hearty 'OOF' before getting up and scrambling out of the kitchen, running as quickly as his feet could possibly carry him. ]
