[ it felt like bad luck the moment his cellphone rang and woke him up after four hours of sleep. it felt like even worse luck when said person on the other line told nathan that he would be saying hello to their fifth and final member to the 'team'-- alone, which was apparently due to personal reasons from his other three co-workers. this did not deter nathan from furiously texting aaron in anger, only to get a short can't come as a reply. he didn't even bother texting hana, as she still had difficulties texting with an english-language phone, but he still called her and got her voicemail message, which only made him seethe even further.

the anger eventually subsided when coffee was deposited into his hands, drinking his life force happily (or as happy as nathan could get) while turning the corner from starbucks to sit on one of the many chairs littering the front of the shop. once he settled in and tossed his bag onto the table, nathan finally felt like all was right in the world, completely forgetting his original objective for the day. his coffee was his second love, after all, and it deserved his complete and undivided attention. ]

[ raises his eyebrows at that, seemingly satisfied. ]

Good. And you don't have to call me "Herr Nathan". Just "Nathan" is fine. [ pauses, fighting the urge to add on something to that. looks away, feeling a little awkward as he adds: ] If... you want to... I guess.

[ leans forward a little, looking a little excited. ] Yes! I like that very much! Nathan!

[ keeps his gaze away, almost feeling slightly embarrassed over caleb's excitement. ]

O-okay, okay, I get it-! It's just a name, geez...

[ slowly settles back into neutral again, drinking the last of his coffee. looks mournfully at his loss before standing up and looking down at caleb. ]

Gonna get some more. Want one?

Hm? [ stands as well, face scrunched a bit in concentration over the first bit -- gonna? what was gonna? -- but nods anyway, understanding that nathan was offering him something at least. ]

[ grabs his bag before he looks caleb up and down a bit, thinking on something in silence. decides to just shrug and sling his bag over his shoulder, walking a short distance before opening the door and wandering in. ]

[ blinks a little at the look, effectively making him lag behind before he realizes that nathan has moved. quickly stumbles & trips his way around the tables, chairs & people, narrowly avoiding crashing his nose into the door when he opens it to follow inside. ]

[ is already standing in the somewhat long line, staring up at the choices that are scribbled on the menu. only notices caleb when he happens to glance to the side, doing a double-take of sorts when he focuses in on him. ]

[ looks up at the menu when asked, tilting his head while his brows furrow in concentration. takes a sniff of the area & seems to realize for the first time that they are standing in starbucks -- a coffee shop. glances at nathan, his expression a little sheepish. ]

Ahem. Nathan, I am... offer is kind, but I am... ehhh...

[ stares at him again, almost... feeling a little sorry for him... ]

[ heaves a sigh and approaches the counter when it's finally their turn. doesn't even look at the lady who greets them, too busy pointing at different things. ]

I want one of each of those Frappuccinos, one blueberry muffin, one lemon poppy seed muffin, two of your raspberry and raisin scones, one of those ham croissant things, and... [ glances over at caleb as he takes out his debit card, considering something, though decides to humor himself at the last minute when he hands the card to the lady. ] --one strawberry milk.

[ had been busily digging around his pockets, pulling out a wrinkled five-dollar bill. ]

I have five dollars--!

[ pauses when he finally processes the number of items nathan had ordered, his money ignored in favour of blinking owlishly at the woman & then back down at nathan. ]

Food... is a lot. Nathan is hungry?

[ only lets out a small grunt in reply, stepping away from the counter to wait for his order. ]

[ after a minute or two he's handed a bag of his food and several tall cups in cardboard cup holders. hands over two stacks for caleb to hold. ]

Help me, will you? [ glances around, finding two open seats over in the corner. jerks his head in that direction, a silent order for him to choose that table. ]

[ accepts the load without question, following nathan's line of sight to the table. smiles a bit & nods, closing one eye so that he can navigate without spilling the beverages. sets them down on the table carefully & settles down on a seat, peering around for the strawberry milk. ]

[ has said strawberry milk in the bag-o-food, but he doesn't pull it out just yet. instead he places his items on the table before sitting in the seat opposite of caleb, opening the bag to rummage around in it. when he finds the handful of straws someone must've just thrown in there, he finally begins to pop open each top to the icy, cold slushy-like drinks. stabs them all with a straw, releases them from their cardboard dungeon, then nudges them closer to caleb.

looks up at him, an somewhat expectant look on his face. ]
