[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ voice squeaks lightly as he does the first thing that comes to mind: shoving the book into caleb's face with a THUD while his own keeps rising in heat. ]

[ yelps a little when the book hits home, hand immediately coming to grab at the book to lower it from his slightly bruised nose. makes a few pathetic noises & starts blurting things out in his own rising panic. ]

[ uses his own arms as a shield now, not even bothering to look at caleb as he babbles out incoherently. ]

[ finally allows his eyes to look up at him, feeling calm within caleb's words and the contact he initiates. ]

[ seems to just. lose the muscles and bones in his legs when the random german appears, having to reach behind himself quickly to grab onto the counter top as to not collapse onto the ground. ]

[ blinks a bit owlishly at his own actions, as if the last few seconds were a quick blur to him. still feels a bit weak as he slowly starts to stand up with caleb's help. ]

[ keeps both hands steady on both of nathan's upper arms, patiently waiting for nathan to regain his footing. ]

[ a small, sheepish (pleased) sound escapes him as he draws the other hand away. bends down to pick up the book from the floor, then straightens to show off the book in a flourish. ]
