[ isn't entirely there even when the plane comes to a complete stop; the noise ringing in his head is as painful as he remembers it being, making him sway a bit while pressing a hand to his forehead. the world before his eyes seems to double, triple, merge back into one, then double again, while the blueprint-world throbs in noisy emptiness. makes small whimpering noises when they're walking, barely hanging onto consciousness by focusing on that comforting, erratic heartbeat he knows is near.

gropes around for a smaller hand that he knows is around (but can't remember why it would be right this moment) while mumbling absentmindedly under his breath in german, as if he's welcoming himself back home. ]

[ was almost ready to grab onto his phone to call for hilda's help, pausing when he hears caleb's voice. sighs in relief, giving him an encouraging smile and a small squeeze to his hand. ]

Yeah, Deutschland. Look, you made it.

[ hones in immediately to nathan's voice for his extended sanity, even closing an eye to help him focus. smiles at the other boy brightly, as if it's been a while since he's seen him. ]

. . . Nathan? Guten Tag!

[ blinks at the sudden greeting, slowly letting his eyes avert elsewhere as an instant thought comes to mind: ah, there he is. ]

Uh... yeah, Guten Tag to you too.

[ lifts his free hand, pressing it against caleb's forehead. ]

How are you feeling? Do you need anything? Water?

[ overlays his own hand over nathan's, keeping it there. moves it down to his cheek so that he can lean into it further for support. ]

Loud. Pain. But not very bad. Wasser?

O-okay. I'll be right back.

[ slowly removes himself from him, stepping back a few paces to make sure he's alright. then runs like hell to the nearest shop, yammering out in english to the clerk there that he needs water. ]

[ after a few minutes of being lost in translation he bounds back with a large bottle of water, nearly tripping once or twice. slowly, carefully sits down next to caleb again, snapping off the cap to the water to hand it to him. ]

[ looks up from where he had been slowly slouching -- the direction away from the sound. accepts the water gratefully. ]

D-Danke. . . Danke, Nathan.

[ lifts a hand but stops, unsure what to do. eventually it lands on caleb's head, softly stroking his hair as a means to somehow comfort him. ]

[ leans into that hand gratefully. holds the awkward tilt for a while before he shakily sets the water bottle down on the ground while beginning to shift (slowly, as not to rattle himself too much) until his ear is right next to nathan's chest. closes his eyes, concentrates on breathing. ]

[ eyes widen comically at the display of what could be considered affection to the people around them, quickly looking at the crowds with a blush on his face. gaze soon lands on caleb again, hands going at a snail's pace to press one of them against caleb's other ear, his free one holding him in place. allows himself to push his face into the top of his head, murmuring a bit. ]

It's okay. I'm here.

[ the tensions in his muscles seem to relax steadily, little by little, until his breathing evens out again. gives a short nuzzle at nathan's chest as a compromise between the two feelings of not wanting to move too much, but wanting to return the affection at the same time. ]

Ja. I know.

[ lips slowly turn into a fond smile, a hand shifting to rub at his back gently. when he realizes that a few people are glancing towards them he returns to feeling embarrassed. does not move, however, knowing that caleb's comfort means more to him at the moment. ]

Uh... s-should I call Hilda soon?

[ seems to work up the energy that he's managed to recover to glance up, expression bright. ]

[ then feels the pain of his mistake, making him quickly press his face back into nathan's chest again. ]

Erm. . . but can't see. Hard to see with noise.

[ yeah, right are his thoughts after his comment, looking away as he thinks on this some more. in the end he can't think of anything (doesn't think there's anything he can do, sighing a bit to himself before pulling out his phone to call her number. ]

[ the phone doesn't even have to ring twice before the lines connect. swallows thickly. ]

Yeah, uh. [ a pause. ] Yeah, if-- if you don't-- [ another pause. feels his face grow warm. ] U-uh-huh. See you.

[ shuts the phone and pockets it, re-wrapping his arms around caleb to comfort him some more. ]

She says she'll come to you instead, okay? She'll be here in a little bit.

[ pulls himself out of his daze in time to catch the last of nathan's words. gives a short nudge in affirmation. ]

Es tut mir leid, Nathan. Deutschland is more good than pain. Is Home. I show later. Is very good. . .
