[ ignores the strange looks from the passing drivers as he travels leisurely on his scooter. the sound of the characteristic putt putt putt noise of his transportation fills the driveway when he arrives in front of the mansion. it takes him another minute (or two) to properly park & put the machine to rest.

straightens & leans back in the seat a little as he takes out his phone to quickly type a text message: let me be your guest, mademoiselle & looks up toward a window to wait. ]

[ makes a relieved 'whoosh' sound when the scooter finally starts making its putt putt putt sounds. cranes his head back toward her. ]

[ perks up when the scooter finally starts, quickly pressing send on her phone before shoving it back into her purse. wraps her arms around anthony's middle, pressing herself up against him. ]

Will I get fined by the Tony Scooter Service if I don't?

[ makes himself comfortable & then guides the scooter to round its way out of the driveway slowly. ]

Nah. We just won't reimburse anything.

[ doesn't respond for a while, concentrating on turning the right corners & looking for the correct streets. it's only when they stop at a red light that he finally speaks again. ]

[ had been too busy enjoying the ride and thus blinks in surprise at his comment, picking herself back up instantly with a laugh. ]

[ smiles a little to himself though he does not answer in lieu of making the scooter move forward again. fifteen more minutes of weaving in & out of traffic brings them to their destination at last. looks at the number of cars already parked in the designated area & makes a small face, picking a little corner near a tree to settle his beloved scooter into a stop. the vibrations & the noise of putt putt putt does not stop until a few more seconds afterward.

after once again going through the motions of wrestling his scooter into a complete halt, he straightens to stretch his back. ]

[ takes off the helmet and shakes out her hair, leaning back to cling onto that with a tiny smile on her face. ]

Thank you for the warning.

[ & then she lets her eyes wander around to survey the area and the people gathering. suddenly feels a nervous twitch in the pit of her stomach, groping around and missing anthony's hand a few times with one of her own before latching onto it in silence. ]

[ takes her hand automatically without thought. blinks when he thinks he detects something like nervousness in the hold, glancing at her in concern. ]

[ breathes in, breathes out; turns to look at him again, giving a tiny nudge with her shoulder when she hears the worry in his voice. ]

[ returns her smile for the sole purpose of helping to quell her nervousness even more. gives her hand another squeeze & starts leading them through the smaller crowds into the main gathering, searching for one of the many refreshment tables that he knows will be available. keeps their hands attached through their trek, giving her hand squeezes once in a while to make his presence part of the forefront of her mind. ]

[ looks around and then down at her feet as they go along, feeling self-conscious for reasons not quite known to even herself. tugs at her skirt and messes with her hair every now and then, attempting to keep herself as busy as the crowds of people around them. when her eyes spot the refreshment table she stops their trek suddenly, tugging on anthony's hand a bit so that they're standing closer to one of the walls. ]

Um. I'll go get our drinks! You wait here, okay?

[ gladly takes refuge against the wall, backpedaling a few more steps so that they can lean against it. has to blink several times to properly digest her words when he hears them over the starting music. stomps down his curiosity & knee-jerk reaction to follow, deciding to let her do what she feels is necessary to settle into the party atmosphere. ]

[ nods a few times and bends over to kiss his cheek, wandering off and away towards the table in the distance, silently hoping that kicking herself away from her refuge and savior would help her more than hurt her. ]

[ had been purposely making conversation with a handful of women surrounding him when his eyes caught sight of a particular figure in the corner of the room, making him raise his gaze away from the females in favor of double-checking if his eyes weren't deceiving him. when his mind pieces things together he excuses himself from the group, making a beeline over towards a certain fluffy-haired boy standing alone.

saunters quietly beside anthony, an arm landing itself over his shoulders while he leans in close. ]

Well I'll be damned. Didn't think you'd actually come to a place like this!

[ eyes follows alyssa's retreating back well beyond her parting kiss until the crowd swallows her form. shuffles his weight from one foot to another when slight anxiety at losing sight of her sets in, craning his head from time to time in hopes of seeing her approach. eventually manages to grow marginally comfortable against the wall, simply watching people of all kinds pass by without (thankfully) needing to converse with him.

is actually dazing a bit when he is addressed. jumps a bit & instinctively leans back. blinks owlishly up at the newcomer, brows furrowing a little bit. gives a small incline of his head in polite greeting & decides to go with something safe. ]

I usually don't. It's a new experience.

Well, I remember you were okay with it back in high school, but only if me or the princess tagged along. Kind of surprised to see you here all by yourself! Did you level up a lot in the summer or somethin'?

[ leans back some more until the back of his head hits the wall behind him. starts tensing up even as he tilts his head a little. manages to refrain from commenting on the high school quip, once again choosing to play it safe for now. ]
