[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ shuffles back a few steps, as many as their connected hands would allow, anyway. ]

[ looks satisfied enough when caleb moves back, giving himself an ample amount of time to smile privately to himself as they go along. ]

[ schools his expression whey they arrive, releasing caleb's hand so that he can walk towards a bookshelf tucked away somewhere at the side. peers at it, surveying the recipe books... then finds what he wants, going on his tiptoes to reach up and grab it. ]

[ had been watching the entire process with an encouraging smile until he snaps out of it by nathan's voice. at the quiet request, he nods energetically. ]

[ busily gets to doing as he'd been asked. also needs to go on a slight tiptoe, but gets it without much trouble. glances at the title before handing it over to nathan with a grin. ]

Book on pizza? Is smart! Nathan is smart!

[ --then belatedly notices the redness of nathan's face. pokes his head toward nathan's to peer at him worriedly. ]

Nathan? Okay?

[ doesn't look at him, too busy finding something on the floor much more interesting. hand blindly gropes around for the book, taking it and putting it over his face as he scoots back and away. ]

Y-yeah... s'okay.

[ matches step for step so that the distance between them doesn't grow. peeks over the book. ]

Erm. . . but Nathan. . .

[ voice squeaks lightly as he does the first thing that comes to mind: shoving the book into caleb's face with a THUD while his own keeps rising in heat. ]

[ yelps a little when the book hits home, hand immediately coming to grab at the book to lower it from his slightly bruised nose. makes a few pathetic noises & starts blurting things out in his own rising panic. ]

Not okay! Heart is not okay! Sie atmen, Nathan!

[ uses his own arms as a shield now, not even bothering to look at caleb as he babbles out incoherently. ]

SHORT. CAN'T REACH THINGS. MIDGET. BAD GENES. HATE EVERYTHING. GOD DAMNIT.
