[ hits send on the text message to alyssa -- that he's coming to visit for a short while -- before he starts up his scooter & steers himself in the direction of nathan's apartment. his backpack is holding only one thing, but it's precious enough of a bundle that he wears the backpack against his stomach. ignores the looks he's getting both on & off the street, parking tinkerbell in her usual corner spot. it's been almost two weeks since he's saw her (two weeks to recover), which is why he'd armed himself with a present in apology.

stands in front of the door to the stairs for a moment, wondering if he's feeling up to the physical exertion today-- then just changes direction to walk in the direction of the elevator. glances up at the ceiling of it when he's on board & pressed the proper number, feeling a little nervous for no reasons he could consciously finger. decides to shrug it off the best he can when he shuffles off it, rummaging around his backpack to take out the wrapped present before something (someone?) in front of a door catches his eye.

... stops. blinks. ]

. . . ? [ belatedly realizes that the boy is front of the door he needs to reach, making him pause, blink & speak: ] . . . Hi.

[ lets out a loud puff of air through his nose, almost as if he's saying hmph or something akin to it. ]

[ turns his attention back to the road when the light turns green, once again focusing on driving until they arrive safely at their location of interest. waits until tinkerbell quiets down, then gestures toward the little cafe tucked in between two other shops. ]

Ta-da.

[ looks over at the cafe when he has the chance, giving it a good look. removes himself from anthony and slides off of tinkerbell before patting his pants a little to smooth them out. trots over to the small crosswalk to push the button.

looks up and over at anthony in silence when the signal changes. wordlessly reaches out for his hand. ]

[ pockets his keys & follows. blinks down at the boy's hand when his own is for. ]

[ then, after a moment's hesitation, closes his hand around the boy's gently, just in time for the signal to change. ]

Look both ways.

[ gives a few enthusiastic nods quickly, turning his head right, left, then putting one foot in front of the other when everything is in the clear. ]

[ only gives a passing glimpse to his side to make certain there are no cars turning onto the road they're crossing. gives the boy's hand a light tug & starts moving forward. ]

Do we need to go back right away?

[ almost misses that question as he's too busy looking around, quite interested in the location. takes out his cellphone when he briefly hears the comment, typing: ]

「 Go back? 」

[ stops when they get across, only managing the following: ]

. . . Oh.

[ nods. puffs up a little bit, typing: ]

「 I can camp. 」

[ shakes his head. ]

You'll get Nathan arrested.

[ sighs, feeling a little tired. ]

[ tilts his head a little bit at that sigh. lets go of his hand. ]

「 Are you tired of me? 」

[ blinks, looking genuinely confused. ]

Tired of you?

[ nods. ]

「 Adults get tired of kids easily. 」 [ pauses. types: ] 「 I'm okay, I don't need an adult. 」

[ shrugs & reaches for a hand again. ]

Good. We kids can stick together then.

[ looks at his hand. back up at anthony. ]

「 But you're an adult. 」

[ wonders if he should say many things that he's thinking, deciding against it when he realizes that he doesn't have the capacity to translate it all. just reaches to take anthony's hand again before pocketing his phone. ]

[ puffs out his cheeks in silent victory (over his status as 'still a kid'), looking rather pleased as he tugs them forward again toward the cafe. ]
