[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ wants to say something about not knowing much about the mansion himself, never really having the chance or will to look in great detail. silently decides it's best to just nod a bit and move along, craning his head around to peer at their surroundings in some kind of childish curiosity. ]

[ hears the slight hesitance as a hitch in breathing. almost runs into a wall when he automatically glances back. doesn't pay that near-accident any mind, however, his excitement toning down a bit as he tugs nathan closer to his side in reassurance. ]

[ feels slightly embarrassed at the close proximity but does not move, instead looking up at caleb with a blink as he bumps into him gently. ]

Um... [ pauses, trying to think of something else. ] The backyard is nice at night?

[ looks straight ahead, head tilted a little in concentration. but his attention comes back to nathan soon enough. ]

[ shuffles his feet a bit as they go along, head jerking up in surprise when caleb speaks. blinks, looks ahead, then frowns a bit. ]

No. Not really.

[ pauses. sighs and pushes down the uneasy feeling in his stomach, deciding to tug caleb towards the room anyway. ]

It's, uh... somewhere one of my relatives goes into a lot. So I guess it's important to see.

[ follows along, but his pace is slower than usual as he tries to figure out the reason behind the fluctuating heartbeat. ]

[ grips his hand unconsciously as he comes to a stop, lips forming into a strained flat line. ]

I uh. Don't ever go in there. I don't like to, it's--

[ stops himself. shakes his head a bit, emotions wavering as he looks up at caleb. ]

L-let's go somewhere else first, 'kay? We've got a really cool theater room somewhere around here.

[ is only half-listening to nathan's words, his worry overtaking his comprehensive abilities. ]

[ it takes a moment, but appears to get the gist of it in his own way. steps up closer so that he can lean down to so that his forehead is hovering only centimeters away from nathan's, gaze gentle. ]

Nathan. I am happy with Nathan. Is okay if I do not see house.

[ brings up his free hand to point at his eye, just barely avoiding stabbing himself due to the energy he puts into the motion. ]

[ feels a small blush cover his cheeks when caleb leans in, keeping his eyes trained on him despite the growing need to look away. manages to keep still and listen, his voice small and somewhat subdued when he finally speaks. ]

[ manages to recover soon enough, standing up tall again. ]

But I still want you to see things! [ turns so that they're going in the opposite direction while pulling caleb along. ] The theater room is seriously the only cool thing in here. Except for my room, of course.
