Team like Nathan present too. Nathan try a lot with me.

Try or not, Nathan stinks at presents in general. [ grabs another bulb, lifting on the tips of his toes to hook it onto one of the higher branches. ] But at least they didn't get coal.

But coal is good for cook! Is good for Frau Hana?

... [ stares at him for a long moment, slowly lowering himself down again. ] Only you could take something negative and make it positive.

[ stares at him, a little panicked. ]

Coal is bad? Wrong word?

[ nods, once again bending to nab a bulb. ]

Coal is bad on Christmas. It's what Santa gives to the kids on his naughty list.

[ when the comprehension hits him, his head starts shaking wildly. ]

No! No coal for Frau Hana!

Yeah, none for her, but definitely coal for Aaron.

No coal for Herr Aaron. He is very good person, and Nathan friend.

Not my friend. Just a co-worker that likes to pretend to be my friend.

. . . Only work together? Really not friend?

[ scratches the back of his head, looking elsewhere. ]

Er. I dunno... maybe? Aren't you supposed to do lots of fun things with friends and talk to them a lot and stuff?

Nathan and Herr Aaron talk a lot! Have fun when talk together, I see and hear!

All we do is argue. I could hardly call that having fun.

But Nathan like Herr Aaron? Have party and give present, and maybe snow fight.

[ opens his mouth, closes it. crosses his arms over his chest, face growing warm. ]

I'd be a real jerk if I didn't get him at least something... a-and we need four people for a snowball fight anyway...

[ reaches over to give nathan's head a few pets of his own. ]

Nein. No present for people I do not like. Same with Nathan, ja? Do not care if be mean to not-friend. Present is for good people.

[ makes a little noise of agreement that sounds suspiciously like a halfhearted grunt, though he gets pulled away from that when a thought strikes him, making him ask curiously: ]

You have people you don't like?

[ stops mid-way in picking up one of the last few ornaments in the box to glance at nathan. ]

Ja. Person do not like every people.

[ gives him a considering gaze before turning back to the tree in silence, shoulders dropping a bit. lifts an ornament after nabbing it, opening his mouth-- then just shakes his head and places the item on the tree. ]

Yeah... that's true.

[ glances at him, catching that slight skip. ]

Nathan? Is okay?

[ turns to look at him, smile in place. lifts a hand to point towards the window. ]

Of course I am. It's snowing!

[ glances out the window, going a bit cross-eyed. back to nathan: ]

Ja, snow a lot! Keep snow?

[ stretches his arms out wide, nodding. ]

I'd keep the snow forever if I could.

Put a little snow in re-fridge! Keep forever, even in summer!
