[ shivers a little underneath the covers when a chill disturbs his slumber, tucking himself a bit closer to caleb to leech off of his warmth. after a moment or two he cracks an eye open, shifting his gaze on over to the window when he feels like something is amiss. blinks once, twice, then slowly sits up in the bed as he gets a closer look at the outside world.

when he sees the snow that had piled up over the night and continued to litter the ground he can't help but get on his knees, smooshing his face and hands up against the glass as if he were an overexcited child. pries himself away after the tiniest of bounces on the bed to instead direct his attention to his sleeping companion. places a hand on his shoulder and lightly shakes. ]

Caleb. Caleb!

[ lifts his free hand to flick caleb's forehead lightly. ]

Nathan likes. Nathan's just thinking about how much of an ass Aaron will be.

[ rubs at his forehead. pauses before responding, pulling the information together in his head slowly. ]

Is okay! Herr Aaron do not mean, erm. . . [ stops, struggling for a word. ] Do not mean ass!

[ steps a few paces forward, turning to face caleb as he walks backwards while still holding onto his hand. ]

No, he's that cool kid in school who silently mocks you with his eyes. Then he says some witty remark and you're doomed forever.

[ walks after him, matching the boy's pace, while his own expression remains concentrated on trying to understand the two sentences. he keeps to his confused silence until he sees that they've slowly inched their way into the living room. ]

[ lets go of caleb's hand when they arrive, disregarding their previous conversation as he crosses his arms over his chest and stares at the tree. silence, and then: ]

So, uh. Where do we start, anyway?

[ raises an arm as if answering a question posed by a teacher. ]

Really? I thought it was the other way around... [ murmurs to himself for a moment in thought. ] Well, whatever, let's get the stuff and do this.

[ catches that murmur easily enough, startling him enough to stop his half-scuttle toward the boxes of ornaments. turns to face nathan fully for a moment, head tilted in confusion. ]

Is top to bottom?

No, it's just, uh. I've never done this before, but I've seen it done in movies, so...

[ makes an 'oh' with his lips. ]

I do bottom to top! Star is most fun part, so do it last.

[ can't help but find that endearing, eyes going to the floor as he smiles softly. ]

Okay... so what do we put on first, then?

[ goes to pick up that box of ornaments at last, opening it with relish. displays the contents proudly. ]

[ peers down at the box, picking up one of the ornaments to examine it. ]

You can put candy on a tree?

Ja! Then eat from tree. Is fun!

[ nods, putting the ornament back where he found it before picking up the box of candy canes and opening it. ]

'Kay. But remember, you're gonna have to do the top part of it by yourself.

[ trails off when he can't seem to voice the words. instead he lifts a hand, indicating that he can't reach that high. ]

... o-oh. [ shuffles his feet a little. ] That... that works.

[ watches him for a moment, then puts the box of candy canes on the ground. ]

[ reaches up to give him a small, quick kiss on the cheek, turning back to the tree to put the first candy cane on a branch in silence. ]
